Mercer’s inaugural shipment includes 6,000 cubic meters or over 1,300 bundles of lumber
GT USA, the US arm of Gulftainer, recently received its first shipment from Mercer Timber Products, a global forest products company with operations in Germany, the United States and Canada.
The consignment from the premier producer of commodity pulp and lumber included 6,000 cubic meters or 1,300 bundles of softwood lumber, delivered to the Canaveral Cargo Terminal (CCT) at Port Canaveral in Florida, USA.
The break-bulk shipment of lumber varied in length, width and thickness. As part of its services to Mercer, GT USA is also assisting with the storage and inventory of the lumber at the terminal and the loading onto flatbed trucks for delivery inland.
GT USA marked the inaugural vessel call from Mercer with a special ceremony, where Terminal Manager, Luke Richards, honoured Captain Ma Fei of the Ultrabulk vessel VIGOR SW with a commemorative plaque.
“We are delighted to welcome the company to the Canaveral Cargo Terminal to benefit from our full range of services, from ship-to-shore transfer to storage and logistical support. This reinforces the trust we have built among our partners and customers as a global port operator of choice,” commented Peter Richards, Group CEO of Gulftainer.
