Saudi Arabia’s national shipping company Bahri has confirmed that its oil tanker ‘Abqaiq’ was targeted on 03 April 2018 in international waters south-west of the port of Al Hodeidah in restive Yemen.
The VLCC suffered only minor damage and there were no injuries to its crew aboard. The cargo was unaffected and there was no loss of containment. The crude carrier successfully resumed her northward journey across the Red Sea.
In a press statement Bahri expressed its gratitude to the Saudi-led coalition whose warships intervened and ensured that the carrier’s continued journey towards its destination was safe and uninterrupted.
“With emergency systems in place, our crew and crisis response teams followed standard safety procedures, and we are currently cooperating and coordinating with all concerned authorities and officials,” the Bahri official statement added.
