125,000sqm. of glass will serve rail system’s lines 1 through 6 and 85 stations
Riyadh Metro is scheduled to receive around 125,000sqm. of Guardian Glass to cover six lines and 85 stations of the Kingdom’s mega transportation project.
The contract was awarded by all three consortia of Riyadh Metro–FAST, ANM and BACS, with varying glass products to be installed in each of their corresponding lines to meet the 176km project’s complex light transmission and energy requirements.
“We have taken all the aesthetic and functional possibilities of light and energy requirements into consideration and are very confident in our ability to support this project with best-in-class products and team of experts who will be available around the clock to guide the entire process,” commented Wissam Kazzaz, Regional Marketing Director–Africa & Middle East Guardian Glass.
Guardian Glass bagged the contract in the face of stiff competition. According to Kazzaz, the company produces the most technically advanced coated glass, developed to meet the unique needs of the Middle East and Asia in terms of climate, regulations and architectural and aesthetic requirements.
With a glass plant located in Saudi Arabia, Saudi Guardian International Float Glass, (GulfGuard), its products were also tested for the lowest carbon footprint and least shipping time, a key deciding factor in line with the national project’s overall objective to increase energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
Guardian Glass also has manufacturing plants in UAE and Egypt.
