Donates € 220,000 towards pandemic relief efforts in the Middle East nation
Tetra Pak and Sidel, part of the Tetra Laval Group, will jointly donate € 220,000 (US$ 237,500) to the WHO Solidarity Response Fund as a collaborative partner of the International Initiative on Covid-19 in Yemen (IICY).
IICY is a collaborative partnership of businesses, international organizations and NGOs united by a desire to assist Yemen’s response to the spread of the virus, at a critical time for the country and its people.
IICY founding partners, led by Hayel Saeed Anam Foundation and including Tetra Pak, Sidel, Unilever, United Nations for Yemen and the World Bank-backed Yemen Private Sector Cluster, will work collaboratively to support international organizations and the Yemeni authorities as they respond to pandemic in Yemen.
The contribution will help strengthen Yemen’s resilience and help clinical and scientific experts to respond effectively to the ongoing pandemic.
“The International Initiative on the pandemic in Yemen welcomes Tetra Pak’s significant contribution to supporting efforts to tackle the virus and avert further humanitarian disaster in Yemen,” remarked Nabil Hayel Saeed Anam, Chair, IICY.
This forms part of the Tetra Laval Group’s recent donation of €10 million to support global Covid-19 relief efforts.
