Brand strengthens growth in GCC and enhances its presence in African markets
UD Trucks has announced another strong year across the Middle East, East, and North Africa (MEENA) region, maintaining its strong market share in the GCC, while expanding its footprint in key East African markets and growing its aftersales service offering.
In 2025 the brand will be focused on resilience, innovation, and sustainability to ensure continued growth amidst the dynamic and economic challenges being faced by businesses in the region.
Across the GCC, UD Trucks has achieved double-digit growth in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar, reinforcing its leadership and showcasing agility and resilience throughout the region. In Saudi Arabia, the brand has established itself as the leader in the waste management sector in Riyadh and Jeddah, where its reliability and performance have made it the primary choice.
Additionally, UD Trucks is playing a pivotal role in the Kingdom’s construction sector, supporting its rapid infrastructure development.
Strong UAE uptake
In the United Arab Emirates, the brand enjoys a strong position in the medium-duty segment and is trusted by major organisations such as Trojan, Sharjah Municipality, and Kalba Municipality in the heavy-duty sector. UD Trucks has emerged as the preferred partner for driving schools, impressed by the brand’s models’ versatility, practicality and ease of use.
The brand’s success extends to Qatar, where it leads in the heavy-duty segment and contributes to initiatives like the North Field Expansion (NFE) project. Similarly, in Oman and Kuwait UD Trucks continues to enjoy robust demand for its vehicles, off the back of their reputation for reliability, adaptability, and customer satisfaction, while in Iraq the brand has continued to support essential services in the Babil governate, supplying trucks for essential applications such as water tankers.
East Africa inroads
In East Africa, 2024 was a milestone year for UD Trucks. The brand re-entered Kenya with launch events in Mombasa and Nairobi, highlighting the Quester and Croner models, affectionately nicknamed Ndovu (elephant) and Nyati (buffalo). Similarly, UD Trucks enjoyed a strong debut in Egypt in partnership with GB Auto, a subsidiary of GB Corp, providing sustainable transportation solutions for a rapidly growing market.
In Uganda, the delivery of firefighting units to Kampala was a significant achievement, while Ethiopia remains a key market and will be a key focal point for expansion in 2025. Also looking ahead, the brand is exploring opportunities in Morocco, Georgia, Turkey, and Central Asia, reflecting its strategic intent to expand into promising markets.
Growing number of service agreements
With an active portfolio of over 1,000 trucks under service agreements, delivering industry-leading standards of customer satisfaction has been central to UD Trucks’ success and was consistently prioritised over the past 12 months.
Tailored solutions for sectors like construction and waste management have optimised operations and enhanced customer experiences. The brand has completed major upgrades at service centres in Qatar, Bahrain, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi to meet increasing demand and ensure seamless service delivery. UD Trucks also introduced a new customer survey approach at service locations to gather actionable insights and continuously improve service quality.
Brand strategy
Training remains a cornerstone of the brand’s strategy to enhance competency across all functions. In 2024, UD Trucks delivered 1300+ hours of technical training, 1600+ hours of commercial training, and 1200+ hours of systems training to its workforce. On-going investment in training will continue to ensure the highest standards of service and support for customers across the region.
“Our performance in 2024 is a testament to the strength of UD Trucks and our unwavering commitment to our customers. From maintaining our market share in the GCC to expanding into East Africa, we have demonstrated our ability to adapt and thrive,” affirmed Mourad Hedna, President, UD Trucks MEENA.
