Partner to create algae protein solutions in aseptic packaging

SIG, a leading Swiss packaging solutions provider, and Nutrition from Water (NXW) have announced a global partnership to develop integrated product concepts that combine algae-based protein beverages with advanced aseptic packaging.
The initiative is designed to help close the nutrition gap in rapidly growing economies, delivering nutrition with added protein to communities where it is needed most.
The collaboration started at MISTA, the San Francisco-based global food innovation platform that SIG joined in 2023. MISTA unites leading companies in food, ingredients, and food technology to accelerate the transformation of the global food system.
New product solutions
As part of this collaboration, SIG and NXW will showcase a sample of the new product solutions at the upcoming Gulfood Manufacturing 2025, which will be held from November 4 to 6 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
“Our partnership with SIG is exciting because it allows us to look at nutrition as a whole system, from how biotechnology enables better nutrition, to how it’s packaged, distributed, and understood by consumers,” Federico Duarte, CEO, NXW.
Collaboration
“By collaborating with Nutrition from Water, we aim to harness the power of innovative algae-based proteins and combine them with our cutting-edge aseptic packaging to ensure that nutritious solutions reach the people who need them most,” commented Christoph Wegener, Chief Markets Officer, SIG.
“This innovation reflects the urgent need to close the nutrition gap with affordable and sustainable solutions. Together with our partners, we are committed to turning innovation into impact, making better nutrition accessible to all,” concluded Abdelghany Eladib, President & General Manager, India, Middle East and Africa, SIG.
