The Dubai-headquartered timber pallet manufacturer achieves coveted sustainability award

Al Ostad Pallet Factory, a leading timber pallet manufacturer operating across the GCC, has been awarded a Silver EcoVadis rating following an independent sustainability assessment.
An EcoVadis rating is a 0–100 score that reflects the quality of a company’s sustainability management system at the time of the assessment, based on evidence submitted and supporting documentation.
Al Ostad Pallet Factory scored 76/100, placing it in the top 15% of all companies evaluated by EcoVadis globally, and, at the time its scorecard was issued, in the 92nd percentile of assessed companies.
Client nudge
Al Ostad began the EcoVadis process after being approached by a major client, a semi-government UAE entity, which required its supply chain partners to be assessed as part of its own sustainability programme.
Alex George, Managing Director, Al Ostad Pallet Factory, explained that his company already planned to pursue a recognised sustainability rating, but the client request accelerated the timeline.
A silver rating means EcoVadis has ranked the business in the top tier of assessed companies worldwide, based on a percentile comparison at the time of scorecard publication. EcoVadis ratings are awarded based on percentile ranking, benchmarked against companies in its database over the previous 12 months. Assessment is carried out across four themes: Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement.
Forefront
“Sustainability is something we have to keep at the forefront whenever we create a process, and we have to keep understanding the impact of our actions and long-term wellbeing,” asserted Alex George, Managing Director, Al Ostad Pallet Factory.
For Al Ostad, the rating reflects a broader commitment to building sustainability into day-to-day operations rather than treating it as a last-minute compliance exercise.
