The International Code Council (ICC) MENA celebrates its fifth anniversary in 2025, marking a transformative journey of building safety leadership and innovation across the GCC region.
Since its establishment in 2020, ICC MENA has played a pivotal role in shaping the regions rapidly evolving construction landscape, offering tailored solutions that promote safety, sustainability, and resilience.
As the ICC’s first overseas regional office outside the United States, ICC MENA’s strategic presence in Dubai has made it a trusted partner to government entities, private sector stakeholders, and construction professionals.
“ICC MENA’s mission has always been to enhance building safety while supporting the region’s rapid growth. Over the past five years, we have built strong relationships and provided innovative, sustainable solutions that address the specific needs of the MENA region,” asserted Mohamed Ahmed Amer, Regional Director-Operations, ICC MENA.
Achievements
Customized Solutions and Code Implementation: ICC MENA has supported local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) and stakeholders in adapting and implementing the International Building Code (I-Codes) and other resources to meet regional requirements, ensuring safety and efficiency across diverse construction projects.
Strategic Partnerships and Regional Impact: ICC contributes to the advancement of building safety, sustainability, and regulatory frameworks across the region through strategic collaborations with leading entities such as the Saudi Building Code National Committee (SBCNC), the Saudi Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing (MOMAH), and Oman’s Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning (MoHUP).
Expansion of Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC): ICC MENA has significantly bolstered its Testing, Inspection, and Certification services, providing critical support for new and innovative building systems.
MENA Building Science Advisory Council: The establishment of this council has provided expert guidance tailored to the region’s construction challenges, enhancing ICC MENA’s ability to develop bespoke solutions for AHJs and stakeholders.
