As a new cohort of students prepares to begin university this September, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Dubai Campus is expanding the traditional orientation format to provide students with essential information, academic guidance and opportunities to engage with the university community as they begin their studies.
Beginning on 14 September, the programme will move beyond the conventional orientation format by dividing the first week into two distinct phases. The first two days, 14 and 15 September, will give students the practical grounding they need to begin their studies, while the remainder of the week will shift from formal onboarding to participation in university life.
Meaningful choices
“University is one of the first places where young people are expected to make meaningful choices for themselves, what they want to learn beyond the curriculum, the people and perspectives they engage with, the opportunities they pursue, and ultimately the person they want to become. That transition does not begin with the first lecture; it begins from the moment they arrive on campus,” explained Dr. S. Sudhindra, Pro Vice Chancellor, Manipal Academy of Higher Education.
Freshmen Orientation will open with a welcome from the university leadership, followed by a “From Legacy to Future” session connecting MAHE’s educational heritage with its approach to innovation, leadership and lifelong learning.
Practical support
Students will also be introduced to the practical support available throughout their studies. Guided campus tours will familiarise them with key facilities, while dedicated sessions will cover wellbeing, counselling, academic support, student services and safety.
