
Oman’s logistics and cargo sectors recorded significant gains as Eng. Said Bin Hamoud Al Maawali, the Sultanate’s Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, recently presented a comprehensive performance review before the Shura Council.
The report highlighted strong progress under the Tenth Five-Year Development Plan (2021–2025), with major advancements in transport infrastructure, port operations, and digital integration aligned with Oman Vision 2040.
Cargo performance stood out, with Omani ports handling over 143mn tonnes and surpassing 5.1mn TEUs in 2025, reflecting enhanced operational efficiency and capacity expansion.
Logistics investments
Logistics sector investments reached RO 3.3bn, alongside 18 new agreements signed in 2025, reinforcing the Sultanate’s position as a regional logistics hub. Land transport revenues also grew by 18 percent, driven by increased demand and improved connectivity.
Digital transformation played a critical role in enabling cargo and supply chain efficiency. More than 2,200 government services were digitised, while digital transactions surged by nearly 78 percent year-on-year, streamlining trade and logistics processes.
Looking ahead, Oman will prioritise multimodal integration, expansion of the Port Community System, and development of green ports under the Eleventh Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Strategic initiatives will focus on enhancing supply chain resilience, accelerating cargo flows, and attracting high-value logistics investments through public-private partnerships.
