Eco Rock from Palestine honored for innovation and community impact

Federal Express Corporation announced Eco Rock from Palestine as the winner of the 2025 FedEx ‘Global Possibilities Award’ at INJAZ Al-Arab’s annual Youth Entrepreneurship Celebration, held in Cairo, Egypt, from October 26 to 30.
This year’s event brought together 88 high school and university students from 12 countries across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The teams showcased their ventures to FedEx judges and were assessed based on the four pillars of global connectivity: innovation, connecting to new markets, community development, and sustainability, through company reports, presentations, videos, and interviews.
Led by a group of high school students, the winning venture, Eco Rock transforms rock wool, an industrial byproduct, into an effective growth medium for hydroponic farming. The company’s innovative solution reduces waste, saves water and energy, and enhances food security.
Developing skills
“At FedEx, we believe in empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs by helping them develop the skills, mindset, and opportunities to shape a better future,” said Taarek Hinedi, Vice President, FedEx Middle East and Africa.
During the event’s opening day, FedEx team members also hosted a seminar on the importance of international market access and aligning business objectives to a broader purpose.
Through its long-standing collaboration with INJAZ Al-Arab, a Junior Achievement Worldwide non-profit member since 2007, FedEx supports a range of other educational programs that helps equip young people across the MENA region with the skills and knowledge to succeed as future entrepreneurs and leaders.
