Italy’s CANNON Artes has been awarded a new contract for the engineering and supply of an advanced water treatment plant for the Shuqaiq Power Plant, a large-scale 3GW combined-cycle gas-fired power project in Saudi Arabia.
The project is being delivered for EPC contractors Orascom Construction and Técnicas Reunidas, with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) as the final client.
Located in the Jizan region on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast, the new power plant will contribute to meeting the Kingdom’s growing electricity demand and strengthening the reliability of its power generation infrastructure.
The award marks a further step in CANNON Artes’ long-standing collaboration with Orascom Construction and Técnicas Reunidas.
Power generation facilities
The partnership builds on the successful execution and performance of CANNON Artes’ water treatment systems for the Hajr Expansion power project, demonstrating the company’s ability to deliver reliable water treatment solutions for large-scale power generation facilities under demanding operating conditions.
For the Shuqaiq project, CANNON Artes will provide a high-performance water treatment system designed to supply the quality of water required for the plant’s different operational needs.
“We are pleased to contribute once again to a major power infrastructure project in Saudi Arabia with a water treatment solution engineered to meet demanding performance and reliability requirements,” stated Mauro Monti, Area Manager, CANNON Artes.
The Shuqaiq project further strengthens CANNON Artes’ presence in Saudi Arabia and its positioning as a technology partner for complex water treatment applications in the power and energy sectors.
