Fugro is establishing an Australian hub for GroundIQ through the acquisition of Galt Geotechnics, accelerating growth in underserved key Australian markets of infrastructure, critical minerals and energy, according to a press statement.
GroundIQ is Fugro’s scalable solution for site investigations, delivering faster, more comprehensive and cost-effective ground intelligence. Using advanced sensors, digital workflows, analytics, deep learning algorithms and AI, it produces 3D ground models that improve subsurface understanding, shorten investigation timeframes and strengthen planning, design and construction decisions.
To fast-track the growth of GroundIQ, Fugro will acquire Galt Geotechnics, a Perth‑based consultancy firm with strong technical capability and long-standing client relationships across Western Australia.
Acquisition
The company generates around AU$ 10mn in annual revenue and employs 35 people who will join Fugro’s existing Land operations. It is a small acquisition and expected to be accretive to earnings from day one.
“Australia needs faster and more comprehensive ground intelligence. Combining Galt’s local presence with Fugro’s global Geo-data leadership and digital innovation will accelerate GroundIQ adoption and create operational efficiencies,” stated Simon Clode, Fugro Director, Pacific.
“Joining Fugro will help us take Galt’s capabilities to the next level. We look forward to contributing our expertise and helping launch Fugro’s game-changing technology in Australia,” added Owen Woodland, Director, Galt Geotechnics.
