Strategic move serves vital logistics markets in region’s fastest growing economy
Globe Express Services (GES) has announced its expansion into Latin America with the recent opening of its new office in Peru as part of a thrust to meet the growing demand for logistics services in the one of the region’s fastest growing economies.
The opening of GES’ branch in Peru signals the company’s move to pursue long-term plans in the region by leveraging on its comprehensive express services.
Strategically located in Miraflores, 20km from the commercial port of Callao and within close proximity to Lima International Airport in the country’s capital, the new GES office offers convenient port and airport access while doubling as an operational hub for the Latin American continent as well as the Asia Pacific rim markets.
Liliana Portillo, an experienced logistics veteran, has been appointed as the office’s Operations Manager.
Bold foray
“This is a confident and strategic move for Globe Express Services to establish our office in Peru at this time and in line with our global expansion initiatives to expand into new markets. This is an exciting opportunity in the light of Peru’s economic expansion,” stated Mustapha Kawam, President and CEO, GES.
Peru is a vital economic gateway for business expansion across South America as the country experiences significant progress in recent years with steady economic growth, low inflation and increasing integration into the world economy following export-driven and open market policies.
The country’s economy has grown by an average of 6.4% since 2002 and is seen to continue growing in the coming years owing to its active role in consolidating free trade agreements (FTAs) with key regional and international markets which removed trade barriers and tariffs. Nearly 95% of Peru’s exports are covered by FTAs.
GES currently has 67 corporate offices in 21 countries since the beginning of its operation in 1974.
