Careem is launching ‘Seeds For Lebanon’ in partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP), expanding its humanitarian relief efforts beyond Gaza to support communities in Lebanon and matching every donation made through the initiative.
As Lebanon faces one of the gravest humanitarian crises in its recent history, Careem is making it possible for customers across the region to respond directly. Through the in-app ‘Donate’ platform, contributions can be made in just a few taps, with 100% of funds directed to WFP’s emergency food assistance operations on the ground.
On Careem Food, AED 2 from orders placed at participating restaurants including The Good Bowl, Wrapped, Sofret Beirut, Oventine by Al Safadi, Al Safadi, and Manoushe Street, goes directly to relief efforts. Every purchase of Lebanese olive oil on Careem Quik sees 100% of profits donated to those in need.
Zero fees transfer
For those sending money to family in Lebanon, Careem Pay is offering zero-fee transfers so that every dirham goes directly to the people who need it.
“Through Seeds For Lebanon, we are making it as easy as possible for our customers, partners, and wider communities to contribute to those in need. By matching every donation, we hope to multiply the impact of every contribution made,” commented Mudassir Sheikha, CEO and Co-founder of Careem.
“At moments like this, partnering with Careem is one of the most effective ways where people can help reach those in greatest need, turning generosity into immediate food assistance” added Bashar Al Hammami, Head of WFP Partnerships in UAE.
