Tanker Company takes recent delivery from Hyundai’s Mipo Dockyard
Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC) recently took delivery of the 48,579 DWT product and crude oil tanker, Al-Yamamah, from the South Korean Hyundai shipbuilder, Mipo Dockyard.
The new ship is one of four tankers of this type ordered in April 2018, all of which are due to be delivered this year.
The new ship is one of eight tankers, of various sizes and for different purposes, ordered from the Korean company in a contract signed in April 2018, the Acting CEO of the KOTC Ali Al-Shehab told KUNA, the official State-run Kuwait News Agency.
He pointed out that the latest acquisition of the 183m long tanker capable of a service speed of 15knots comes within the framework of the fourth phase of the fleet revamp and modernization.
The new tanker is eco-friendly and fuel efficient as it was built according to highest international standards for protecting the environment and reducing emission, Al-Shehab affirmed.
KOTC has also in recent months received three 82,500m3 LPG tankers, Gas Al Mubaraikat, Al Ahmadia and Al Rowaisat from HHI.
